About Us

 Get to know the owners behind the quilt shops! 

First, we have the brothers: Duane and Curtis. 

Duane is an electrical engineer currently running both It's Sew Tempting (IST) and Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company (IFS), as well as cleaning and repairing sewing machines. He does all of the behind-the-scenes paperwork and trains new employees as well! 

Curtis is a truck driver who delivers groceries to Hy-Vee, and works at our Story City location on Wednesdays. You can always find him making posts on our Facebook pages encouraging people to come in. 

Our third owner is Stephanie, Duane's wife. She is the pharmacist at NuCara Pharmacy here in Story City, and works at IST on Saturdays and whenever else she can. You can also find her on our Facebook Live shows every Thursday at 6:30pm. 

Our little shop started with a rumor. Back in 2018, we were visiting a local museum during Scandinavian Days in June, and someone mentioned that they heard around town that we were opening a quilt shop. We were surprised to hear this, and quickly denied it even! But once the idea was there, we kept coming back to it. Soon, we were making plans, and in August, we bought the house that now contains It's Sew Tempting! After some major renovations, we had our grand opening in November of that same year. 

After running our little shop for two years, we heard that Denny in Iowa Falls was planning on retiring. Almost 9 months later, in October of 2021, we became owners of our second shop: Iowa Falls Sewing Machine Company. 

Many changes and challenges have happened since the beginning, and now the Fournier Crew of Duane, Curtis, and Stephanie are running both stores. Duane has taken the lead with the help of Kathryn, Kate, Denise, and Lisa in Iowa Falls, and Megan and Darla in Story City. 

Not only do we sell fabric and notions, but Duane also provides sewing machine cleaning and repairs out of both stores. We also now are proud Bernina and bernette sellers, selling sewing, quilting and embroidery machines currently out of our Iowa Falls location.
